How is the project being implemented?

The IRENE project has four milestones.
Step 1 involves measuring the operational load on the grid and studying the use of electric vehicles during the first six months. Based on the data collected, the next step over months 7 to 12 is to design the regulation system and put it into operation. The regulation system encompasses control of the photovoltaics, self-regulating transformers for maintaining voltage and storage of solar energy in stationary batteries. The third step includes the option of incorporating in the control system vehicles and other batteries from which electricity can subsequently be returned to the grid when required. To conclude the project, the last step after 33 months is to produce the final report and analyze the results from a technical and economic point of view.
