Who will benefit from the solutions developed?

The IRENE project seeks to identify solutions to important questions about our future energy supply. Many different people will benefit from these solutions. By changing their patterns of consumption, consumers will be able to save money. The newly developed grid software will enable AÜW to offer its customers innovative products and better services.

Generators will be able to market their electricity more effectively. Improved energy management will create the optimum balance between electricity generation and consumption. Network operators will no longer need to keep as much generating capacity in reserve in order to smooth out peaks in supply and demand. In some circumstances deployment of the new grid software developed by Siemens will avoid the need for major grid expansion. This could result in a reduction in grid fees, and consequently lower electricity prices.
